Biography
Carlos Andrés Alzate Pérez was born in Tuluá Colombia in 1980. His high school years were spent in Salesiano College in Tuluá.
In 1997 he moved to Manizales to study Electronic Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (UNAL). He graduated with honors in 2002 with the thesis: “Online Seismic Event Detection using Artificial Neural Networks and Statistical Methods”.
He received a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence in 2004 at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Leuven, Belgium). His Master thesis was entitled: “Microarray Data Analysis using Transductive Kernel Methods”.
He is currently a research assistant / doctoral student under the supervision of Prof. Johan Suykens at the SCD research division of the Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT) of the K.U.Leuven.
